On Thursday, Union Minister Giriraj Singh criticized the Congress party. He said the current government fixed the problems caused by Congress in 2013, which he described as “appeasement politics.” He mentioned that the government is focusing on helping poor people and women, ensuring they receive their land rights.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also expressed happiness about the new Waqf (Amendment) Bill, saying it will help poor Muslims. He called the passing of this bill a historic decision.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha approved the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 after a long and intense debate. Members of the opposition party, known as the INDIA bloc, opposed the bill, while the BJP and its allies supported it. They believe it will make Waqf boards more transparent and efficient.

The bill was passed even after the opposition suggested changes. Speaker Om Birla announced the voting results: 288 votes in favor and 232 against, proving that most members support the bill.

This revised bill was introduced after the government listened to recommendations from a Joint Parliamentary Committee. It aims to improve how waqf properties are managed in India and increase the use of technology for better record-keeping.
