New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that there is no safer place than India for minorities. He expressed this during a long discussion about the Waqf Bill, 2025. Rijiju, who is the Minister for Minorities Affairs, mentioned that even small groups, like the Parsis, are safe in India and can live proudly.

Some people have claimed that minorities are not safe in India, but Rijiju strongly disagreed, saying, “This is completely false.” He pointed out that as a minority himself, he feels safe and proud in India.

He shared examples of minority groups that came to India for refuge, such as the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan community, and noted that people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka have also found safety in India after facing persecution.

Rijiju said, “You can’t say minorities are not safe here; that’s very wrong.” He emphasized that minorities in India are secure because the majority of people are secular, unlike in some neighboring countries.

He also mentioned that the Waqf Bill will help unify all minorities in the country and improve support for the Christian community. The government wants to resolve many pending disputes related to Waqf (trusts) quickly. Rijiju believes “justice delayed is justice denied,” and that widows, divorcees, and orphans will get help through this bill.
