In Mumbai’s Goregaon East, a serious accident happened early Thursday morning. A 55-year-old woman named Hazra Shaikh was killed, and her two daughters, 22-year-old Shaina and 17-year-old Shirin, were hurt along with an auto rickshaw driver. The accident involved a vehicle from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that crashed into their auto rickshaw on a flyover.
The driver of the CISF vehicle, S. Yadav, was arrested by the police after it was found that he was drinking alcohol before the crash. According to the police, Yadav was driving on the wrong side of the road when he lost control, jumped over the road divider, and hit the auto rickshaw coming from the other direction.
The family was returning home after celebrating Eid at a relative’s house. They were in the auto rickshaw when the crash occurred around 1:30 AM. Hazra suffered many injuries and sadly did not survive. Her daughters and the auto driver are currently in different hospitals, fighting for their lives.
A family member, Jawed Shaikh, mentioned that Hazra’s husband saw the accident from another auto and quickly took them to the hospital. Yadav has been charged with serious crimes, including driving under the influence of alcohol.
