The Gujarat Titans faced a tough challenge when their star fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada, had to go back home to South Africa in the middle of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Rabada missed the last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru because of personal reasons.

The team said, “Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter.” He played in the first two games of the season but struggled, giving away too many runs. In his first game against Punjab Kings, he took 1 wicket for 41 runs, and in the second game against Mumbai, he had 1 wicket for 42 runs.

With Rabada out, the Titans brought in Arshad Khan, who did well against big player Virat Kohli and dismissed him early in the game. The team is not sure when Rabada will return, but they might count on Gerald Coetzee, who they signed for 2.4 crore rupees last November, or all-rounder Karim Janat from Afghanistan.

So far, Gujarat has won two out of three games this season. After losing to Punjab in their first match, they bounced back with wins against Mumbai Indians and RCB. Next, they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad this Sunday.
