The Siddhivinayak Temple Trust in Mumbai, which looks after the famous Lord Ganesh temple, reported a 16% rise in earnings, reaching Rs 133 crore in the last financial year. Most of this money comes from donations and offerings made by visitors. Officials shared that income from special ceremonies and rituals was Rs 20 crore.
The temple makes money from different sources, including donation boxes, online payments, rituals, selling prasad (consecrated food), and auctioning gold and silver. An official mentioned that the sale of laddoos (sweet treats) and nariyal vadi (a crunchy coconut snack) increased by 32% compared to the previous year, with the temple handing out around 10,000 laddoos daily.
For the special festival of Gudhi Padva, the temple trust made an impressive Rs 1.33 crore from auctioning gold and silver, rising from Rs 75 lakh the previous year.
Veena Patil, the CEO of the Siddhivinayak Ganpati Mandir Trust, noted that the number of visitors and some improvements in management contributed to this success. She mentioned that they’re expecting to earn Rs 154 crore this year.
Twenty percent of the total earnings goes to providing medical help and supporting patients with 18 different illnesses, along with running a dialysis center. The temple also offers a book bank for college students and a study room. Additionally, it helps fund the education of children whose farmers have needed help. “We make sure donations go back to the community for everyone’s benefit,” Patil stated.
