Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched an exciting new program called ‘Sishu Vatika’ on Wednesday. This initiative is designed to help children aged 5-6 years get ready for school. It follows the New Education Policy of 2020, which aims to improve education in the state.

To celebrate this new beginning, the kids were welcomed with a special ceremony called ‘Prabesh Utsav’ where they enjoyed traditional festivities. Later, they participated in the ‘Khadi Chhuan’ program, where they got to write on slates for the first time.

After starting the program, CM Majhi sat on the classroom floor at Badagada High School, helping a young girl write the word ‘sunya’ (zero) on her slate. He even served food to older students in classes 9 and 10. The state plans to begin a mid-day meal program for these students in April 2025.

While launching Sishu Vatika, Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to giving quality education to all students in Odisha. “These programs will create a brighter future for our children,” he said. The aim is to make the first day of school a happy one. Kids were greeted with flowers, and traditional tilak (a mark on the forehead) was applied to welcome them.

Majhi encouraged everyone to support this initiative as it plays an important role in fostering a smart and independent future for children in Odisha. He also noted that launching Sishu Vatika is part of a cultural celebration called ‘Odia Pakshya’ that showcases the richness of Odia language and heritage.
