Myanmar has expressed deep gratitude to India for its quick and strong support after a recent earthquake caused much damage. The Prime Minister of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the relief supplies sent to help people affected by the disaster.

During a phone call, the Myanmar leader said he was touched by Modi’s kind words and the aid provided by India. He noted how much the people of Myanmar appreciate the friendship and support from India.

In response to the earthquake that hit Myanmar on March 28, India started “Operation Brahma” to deliver essential help, including rescue efforts, humanitarian aid, and medical assistance. So far, India has sent six aircraft and five naval ships, delivering a total of 625 metric tons of relief supplies.

The first batch of supplies from India arrived in Myanmar on March 29, with 15 tons of essentials like tents, blankets, medicines, and food sent to help those in need. The second batch included 80 rescuers and more supplies, arriving on March 30.

A third batch brought a team of doctors and over 60 tons of medical supplies, which helped set up a 200-bed hospital in Mandalay that is now treating patients.

The Indian Navy also played an important role by sending ships loaded with food and other aid materials. On April 1, they dispatched another ship with over 400 tons of food to help people during this challenging time.

India is prepared to send even more help depending on what Myanmar needs. This response is part of India’s commitment to assist its neighbors during natural disasters, showing that India and Myanmar share a strong friendship.
