New Delhi: The Delhi High Court is not happy about a fight going on in the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). They’re worried this could lead to India getting kicked out of international sports. This fight started when BFI President Ajay Singh suspended two top officials, Hemanta Kumar Kalita and Digvijay Singh. They were accused of stealing money and doing illegal things, based on an investigation by Sudhir Kumar Jain, a former judge.
Kalita and Singh are challenging their suspensions in court, and their hearing is set for April 4. The judges, Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, urged everyone involved to solve the problem quickly for the sake of Indian sports. They pointed out that fighting like this could threaten the independence of the federation and might even make it lose its status in international sports.
The judges were shocked to see so much fighting in sports federations and said this constant bickering could lead to trouble. They called for a resolution in the best interest of sports. Meanwhile, the lawyers for Kalita and Singh raised questions about the legality of the president’s actions, arguing that he may not have the right to file a petition.
The court scheduled the next hearing for April 7 to see what happens next. The BFI explained in their petition that the recent court decision was not carefully considered, and it could harm their upcoming elections.
