The Trump administration announced on Monday that they consider the leak of secret U.S. attack plans about Yemen to be resolved. There has been disagreement among officials, but the White House is standing by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. The leak happened when Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor of The Atlantic magazine, was mistakenly added to a secret chat group on the Signal messaging app, where high-level officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, were discussing sensitive military plans.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, said that they are taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again and that they are moving on from this issue. She emphasized that Mike Waltz is still an important part of President Trump’s national security team.
President Trump labeled the situation a “witch hunt,” dismissing reporting on the incident and expressing support for Senator Markwayne Mullin, who criticized the media coverage during an interview. Trump praised Mullin for defending Waltz against the “Radical Left” narrative.
However, not everyone in the White House is happy about this situation; some senior officials have felt frustrated, and reports say Trump was angry at Waltz privately. Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress are asking for an independent investigation into the leak, while the Senate Armed Services Committee has requested the Pentagon look into the matter.
