The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) held a meeting with officials from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. This meeting came after reports mentioned that SRH accused HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao of threatening and blackmailing their staff regarding tickets for matches.
According to a report by Cricbuzz on Sunday, SRH, owned by the Chennai-based Sun Group, claimed that Rao used “blackmailing tactics” over ticket requests. SRH even reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council for help.
SRH stated, “Mr. Jagan Mohan Rao has resorted to threats and blackmail against our staff. Before the IPL began, he intimidated our team, leading them to write an email about the threats.”
In another serious claim, SRH said that Rao locked the corporate box before the match against Lucknow Super Giants on March 27, even when it was booked for LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. They alleged this was done to pressure SRH into giving extra complimentary tickets.
However, HCA denied all the accusations during the meeting.
The SRH team proposed to stick to their current agreement with HCA and the BCCI, which ensures 10% of the stadium’s tickets are reserved for them. HCA wanted to keep the usual number of tickets in their categories.
After more talks with SRH’s CEO, Shanmugam, they agreed on three main points:
1. The allocation of 3,900 complimentary passes for HCA will not change.
2. HCA promised to work with SRH in a professional way.
3. Both HCA and SRH aim to work together to make the experience better for fans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
