Bhubaneswar: On Utkala Dibasa, which celebrates Odisha’s formation day, BJD president Naveen Patnaik spoke about the state’s bright future. He encouraged everyone to be a “proud Odia.” Patnaik said that Odisha’s creation was an important moment in India’s history, being the first state formed based on language.

He highlighted the significant growth in Odisha from 2000 to 2024, stating, “We’re working hard to make Odisha prosperous.” He emphasized how the Odia language has been recognized as a classical language and mentioned that an Odia University was set up in the state.

Patnaik noted that many educational chairs were created across the nation for research on the Odia language. He also stated that the state has improved a lot, especially in places important to leaders like Gopabandhu Dash and Madhusudan Das. He shared that poverty in Odisha has dropped from 70% to just 10%.

Looking ahead, Patnaik said that Odisha will celebrate its 100th formation day in 2036 and expressed optimism that the dreams of the legendary Biju Patnaik, who wanted Odisha to be the best in Asia, could come true with everyone’s help.

During the event, Patnaik honored notable individuals like linguist Dr. Devi Prasanna Patnaik and climber Mamata Raut for their amazing contributions.
