A 22-year-old woman from Germany has claimed she was sexually assaulted by a car driver in Hyderabad, Telangana. She and her friend were exploring the city when the driver offered them a ride on Monday evening. According to her complaint, the driver attacked her in the car’s back seat.

The woman arrived in Hyderabad on March 4 to visit a friend who had studied in Italy. On Monday, while they were in the Meerpet area, a car driver with five young friends gave them a ride around the city. They enjoyed taking pictures at various spots.

Later that evening, the driver dropped off his friends and the woman’s companion, heading to a quiet area on the outskirts of the city around 7:30 PM. There, he stopped under the pretense of taking more photos and then allegedly assaulted her. After the incident, he ran away.

The woman told her friend about the attack, who then helped her report it to the police. The police acted quickly, arrested the suspect, and sent the victim for a medical examination.

In response to this incident and other attacks against women in Telangana, BRS MLC K Kavitha criticized the state government for not doing enough to ensure women’s safety. She expressed concern over the growing number of crimes against women, including another serious attack on an Israeli tourist in Karnataka.
