Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a big star of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has been in the news because he is batting lower than usual in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. Fans are confused about why he is coming in late to bat. CSK’s coach, Stephen Fleming, explained that Dhoni, who is 43 years old, is taking care of his body after a knee surgery he had in 2023.

So far, the CSK team hasn’t done well, losing two out of three games. In his recent games, Dhoni batted at No. 9 during a 50-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, and at No. 7 in a close six-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals. Even with less time at the crease, he managed to score 30 runs off 16 balls against Bangalore and 16 runs off 11 balls against Rajasthan.

Stephen Fleming said that Dhoni decides when he can play based on how he feels on that day. He will come to bat earlier if the game is close but also trusts other players to step up. Some former cricketers, like Virender Sehwag and Manoj Tiwary, think Dhoni should bat higher because he still plays well.

Fleming emphasized that Dhoni is an important part of the team because of his leadership and wicket-keeping skills. He also mentioned that Dhoni is usually looking to bat around the 13-14 over mark, depending on the game situation. While some people have doubts about his batting position, Dhoni has still shown his quick skills behind the stumps.

CSK is hoping to recover from their recent losses when they play against the Delhi Capitals at home on Saturday.
