Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who recently gave a chance to viral star Monalisa in his new movie, was arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, for a rape case. His arrest happened after the Delhi High Court denied his bail request. On March 30, 2024, Delhi Police took him into custody based on tips and technology tracking. Mishra lives in Mumbai with his family.
So, what happened? A 28-year-old woman accused Mishra of sexually assaulting her several times over four years. She said they had a live-in relationship in Mumbai during that time. She claimed that he forced her to have three abortions and broke a promise to marry her.
The police registered a complaint on March 6, 2024, with charges like rape, assault, and intimidation. The woman shared her story again in front of a judge, and the police also gathered medical evidence from Muzaffarnagar. The incident leading to her complaint took place on February 18, 2025, when Mishra allegedly took her to a hotel and assaulted her before leaving her alone, which made her report him to the police.
Following the court’s decision not to grant him bail, Mishra was arrested. Meanwhile, Monalisa Bhosle, a 16-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, who became famous during the Maha Kumbh celebration, is set to star in Mishra’s upcoming film, The Diary of Manipur. Monalisa, who used to sell garlands by the Narmada River, gained attention after a video was filmed of her during the festival.
