Netflix is set to release a documentary called “Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” This film will show how the stage play was created for the West End in London, which opened in December 2023. It will be available for streaming starting April 15.

The documentary gives fans a special look at the behind-the-scenes work as the team prepares for the exciting play. The play, also named “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” will make its Broadway debut at the Marriott Marquis Theatre on April 22.

Written by Kate Trefry and directed by Stephen Daldry, the story is a prequel to the popular TV show, Stranger Things. Set in 1959 in Hawkins, Indiana, it follows the Creel family, especially their teenage son, Henry. He wants to start fresh, but strange and scary things happen, making him question if he is involved in the terror.

The Broadway cast includes 34 actors, featuring Louis McCartney as Henry Creel and T.R. Knight from Grey’s Anatomy. The documentary is produced by Angus Wall, Kent Kubena, Terry Leonard, and executive produced by Matt Bell.

Stephen Daldry explains that the goal is to create a show that will surprise and amaze the audience. He wants viewers to wonder, “How did they do that?” The creators of the Netflix show, Ross and Matt Duffer, are also excited about the stage adaptation, saying the play was an amazing experience.
