Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, recently spoke about Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb. He stated that it is a protected monument, so it cannot be removed. However, Fadnavis also emphasized that no one should make Aurangzeb seem like a hero. He mentioned that structures not following the law should be taken down.

Right-wing groups have been asking for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb located in Khultabad. Recently, there was violence in Nagpur related to these protests when some people claimed that a sacred cloth was burned.

Fadnavis also responded to comments made by Sonia Gandhi from Congress. She criticized the New Education Policy 2020, saying it could make education more religious. Fadnavis defended the policy, saying it aims to make education more Indian, unlike when the British had control over it. He encouraged everyone to support these changes.

When asked about the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena wanting to use Marathi in banks, Fadnavis said it was a good idea but emphasized that people should not take the law into their own hands.

Additionally, he spoke about plans for the 2027 Kumbh Mela in Nashik, promising to clean the rivers for the event. He mentioned that treating wastewater is necessary so that people can have clean water for the holy dip.

Fadnavis also announced that electricity bills will be lowered over the next five years. He mentioned that while the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has some differences with the government, they are working on it to ensure cheaper power for everyone. He assured that the distribution company, which currently has a large debt, will become debt-free in a few years.
