Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Rahul Tripathi is facing criticism after a slow start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. In his first three matches, he has scored only 30 runs, disappointing fans and the team. CSK signed him for a hefty fee of INR 3.40 Crore during the mega auction, but he hasn’t delivered at the top of the order.
Despite moving skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to number 3 to make room for him, Tripathi has struggled. He started with scores of just 2 and 5 in the initial games, and even his 23 runs off 19 balls against the Royals wasn’t enough to change the team’s luck. CSK has now lost two games in a row.
Former CSK player Harbhajan Singh shared his thoughts on Tripathi’s shaky batting style. He believes Tripathi is moving too much while batting and is not seeing the ball well. Harbhajan stated, “Tripathi is a good player, but he should not be in the playing XI right now. The team is making mistakes.”
He also questioned why Ruturaj Gaikwad, a talented opener, had to sacrifice his position for Tripathi. Harbhajan mentioned that CSK has had strong opening pairs in the past, like Matthew Hayden and Brendon McCullum, and believes it’s vital for them to have a solid opener. He suggested bringing in Devon Conway instead of Tripathi to improve the team’s performance.
Is it Time for CSK to Drop Tripathi for Devon Conway?
Rahul Tripathi’s poor performance in IPL 2025 has raised concerns. Harbhajan Singh suggests CSK should replace him with Devon Conway for better results.
