A woman is suing American Airlines because the flight crew didn’t help her when a man next to her acted inappropriately during a long flight. Neel Elsherif, who runs a few companies including a fancy vegan leather brand, was on a plane going from New York to Milan on May 27.

During the flight, she saw the man next to her drinking a lot of champagne. After that, he started to touch himself over his pants for almost an hour. Elsherif felt scared and trapped because no crew members came by to check on them during that time.

When she finally told a flight attendant about what happened, she was surprised by the response. The attendant said she couldn’t do anything except move Elsherif to another seat in a different part of the plane. To make things worse, the attendant said, “Men just do stuff like that,” and even joked that her own husband does similar things.

Elsherif believes that American Airlines didn’t take her seriously because she’s an Arab woman. She is accusing the airline of not acting responsibly and causing her emotional distress. A spokesperson from American Airlines said they want to make sure every passenger has a good experience and that they are looking into the claims made in the lawsuit.
