Sumona Chakravarti defends the show’s content, talks about her role with Kapil Sharma, and clarifies rumors about their working relationship in a recent interview.

Sumona Chakravarti is a well-known actress from the comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show, where she plays Kapil’s wife. Recently, she spoke to Indian Express, where she defended the show against claims that it’s misogynistic, meaning that it promotes negative views about women.

She said that many of her friends asked, “How can you be part of such a show?” In her defense, Sumona explained, “It’s just a show! It’s scripted and not real life. I’m just acting.” She emphasized that what happens on the show is not meant to insult anyone; it is just entertainment. Sumona believes that people should understand the difference between real life and the acting on TV.

She also talked about her relationship with Kapil. Some people wondered if there was a problem between them because she was not in the latest season of the show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. Sumona explained, “There was no breakup. We had a great run for 10 years. Many marriages don’t last that long!” She mentioned that each year they would take breaks around June or July after finishing a season. She noted she was unsure about what happened after they ended their show on Sony in 2023, especially since Kapil went on a US tour and then started a show on Netflix.
