Saturday Night Live” made a hilarious joke about President Trump’s latest texting problem involving Signal, which upset many Democrats who want National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to resign.
In a skit, Mikey Madison, who won an Oscar for the movie ‘Anora’, played a teenage girl chatting with her friends, Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman, about school and crushes. Andrew Dismukes, pretending to be Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, jumped into their chat with some surprising news.
He said, “FYI, green light on Yemen raid. Rockets went airborne 15 minutes ago. Who’s ready to glass some Houthi rebels? Flag emoji, flag emoji, flag emoji, fire emoji, eggplant.”
Recently, Trump’s team got backlash after The Atlantic published an article revealing that several of his top national security officials, including Vice President JD Vance, were talking about airstrikes on Yemen on Signal. They accidentally included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg in the chat!
Meanwhile, Vance, played by Bowen Yang, joked about why he was in the chat and admitted, “nobody knows why I’m here, especially me.”
As the skit went on, Mikey Madison said, “Got to go, Matt’s here to pick me up. We’re going to a movie.” Dismukes, as Hegseth, asked, “Who? Gaetz?” referring to former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who is under investigation for some serious allegations. Gaetz says he did nothing wrong.
Marcello Hernandez, playing Secretary of State Marco Rubio, also joined in and talked about releasing the “real JFK files.”
Sherman, as a high school student, pointed out, “I think you accidentally added us to a government chat.” Bowen, as Vance, joked back, “It could be worse; you could add the editor of The Atlantic again.”
Mikey Day, acting as Jeffrey Goldberg, responded, “You did.” In the end, Hernandez’s Rubio tried to get the girls’ information to share with ICE, making everything even crazier!
