On Saturday, thousands of people gathered outside Tesla dealerships across the United States and in some cities in Europe to protest against Elon Musk’s actions in the US government. These protesters are frustrated with Musk’s role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he is accused of accessing sensitive information and closing down agencies to cut government spending.

Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX, has an estimated fortune of $340 billion, mainly from his stock in Tesla. On this day, groups of people formed outside all 277 Tesla showrooms in America in a bid to hit Tesla’s sales, which have already been declining.

In states like Texas, New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, hundreds of protesters waved signs and chanted slogans such as “Burn a Tesla, Save Democracy” and “De-Musk America.” Videos of the protests spread quickly on social media, showing people of all ages coming together to voice their opinions against Musk.

Protesters have even taken their movement overseas, with events in European cities where signs criticized Musk as well. In London, some showed images of Musk making a Nazi salute, a claim that has been made against him before.

While many protests remained peaceful, some actions escalated to vandalism, including setting Tesla cars on fire. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned these acts as domestic terrorism. Musk has said he was shocked by these events, urging vandals to “stop acting psycho.”

Despite the growing protests, Musk still believes in Tesla’s future. He told his employees that the Model Y will be the best-selling car again this year and predicted selling over 10 million cars worldwide by next year. “The future is incredibly bright and exciting,” he said.
