Joe Rogan, the popular podcaster, recently criticized the U.S. media for not giving enough credit to Elon Musk for an important rescue mission. On March 18, NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore returned safely to Earth after spending over nine months on the International Space Station (ISS). They got back in a SpaceX Dragon capsule, landing in the Gulf of Mexico near Florida.
These astronauts were supposed to be on an eight-day test flight with Boeing’s Starliner capsule. However, because of problems with the Starliner, such as helium leaks and engine failures, NASA kept them on the ISS much longer than planned.
On his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan expressed disappointment that the media didn’t cover what he called a big achievement in space travel. He said, “They’re trying to downplay everything he does and ignore all the good stuff.” Rogan thought the rescue of the astronauts should have been on television all day, highlighting how much help Musk’s company had been. “It’s crazy that we had to depend on his company to save the astronauts, and nobody talks about it,” Rogan added.
Elon Musk responded to Rogan’s comments, agreeing that the media often overlooks his successes. He claimed, “The goal of the left is to destroy my influence, so they focus on negative stories about me and ignore the positive ones.”
