In the recent match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Jake Fraser-McGurk made an incredible catch that stopped Aniket Verma’s amazing innings. This happened in the 16th over when Verma was hitting the ball very well, having scored 74 runs with five fours and six sixes.
Verma, a young player, pulled a delivery from Kuldeep Yadav toward the leg side, aiming for another six. But Fraser-McGurk jumped high and caught the ball right before it went over the boundary, which would have certainly been a six. This catch was a turning point for Delhi Capitals.
Verma was the only bright spot for Sunrisers Hyderabad during their innings in Vishakhapatnam on Sunday. This was Verma’s first fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mitchell Starc shone for Delhi Capitals as well, taking five wickets and becoming the first player to achieve this milestone this season.
Even though big names like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen struggled against the Delhi Capitals, 23-year-old Verma performed well under pressure. He came to the crease when SRH was struggling at 25 runs for 3 wickets and saw Head get out at 37, meaning SRH had lost four wickets quickly.
Despite this, Verma played courageously, hitting five fours and six sixes. He even scored 17 runs in one over against Axar Patel, who is the vice-captain of the Indian team. Verma had also played well in a previous match against Lucknow Super Giants, helping his team finish strong.
