In Ballia, police have arrested two men after the body of a 20-year-old woman named Pooja was found hanging from a tree with her hands tied. The police said they are charging these men with helping her commit suicide. However, Pooja’s family believes she was murdered and is asking for a special investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Pooja’s body was discovered on March 23 in a village called Sarya Gulab Rai. According to police, she took her life because her boyfriend blocked her phone number, and her family had arranged for her to marry another man. They say Pooja watched a YouTube video on how to commit suicide before taking this terrible step.
The two men arrested are Lalu Chauhan from her village and Ram Dulare, who was supposed to marry her on April 25. The Superintendent of Police, Omveer Singh, stated that Pooja told the men about her pain before her death. Despite this, they didn’t inform her family or the police.
The police concluded her death was a suicide based on a medical examination and other evidence, but Pooja’s family disagrees. Her sister Neha spoke to reporters, saying she believes the police story is not true. She argued that it would be impossible for someone to commit suicide with their hands and feet tied. Neha has called for a CBI investigation due to their doubts about the police’s findings.
Pooja’s father, Dharamraj, who works as a watchman at a police station, echoed his daughter’s sister’s sentiments, questioning how it is possible to commit suicide in such a condition.
