Aniket Verma is turning heads in IPL 2025 with his amazing batting for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The 23-year-old player showed off his skills during a match against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. After SRH was struggling at 25/3 early in the game, Aniket came in, took his time, and then started hitting the ball hard after getting a lucky break when a catch was dropped.
He scored an exciting 74 runs off 41 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes. This powerful performance helped SRH reach a decent total of 163 runs in just 18.4 overs. Sadly, he got out while trying to hit another big shot off bowler Kuldeep Yadav.
Aniket’s impressive innings followed his incredible 36 runs off just 13 balls in the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants. His ability to hit big shots and face top bowlers has made him the new star for SRH.
Who is Aniket Verma?
Aniket is from Jhansi, India. His life story is inspiring—he lost his mother when he was only three years old and was raised by his uncle, Amit Verma, who encouraged him to play cricket. Aniket practiced at the Railway Youth Cricket Club and Ankur Academy under coach Jyotiprakash Tyagi. Now, he’s training at Faith Cricket Club, where he caught the eye of scouts with his solid performances in domestic cricket.
His big break came in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, where he scored the most runs, totaling 273 in six games. Aniket impressed SRH during trial games, where he scored 72 runs in a six-over drill and an unbeaten 64 in an eight-over chase. Because of this, he got an IPL contract for ₹30 lakh and is proving that the team made the right choice by picking him.
With two fantastic performances in his first two matches, Aniket Verma is quickly making a name for himself in IPL 2025.
