Aniket Verma played an amazing game, scoring 74 runs off just 41 balls, even as his team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, faced tough moments. They were bowled out for just 163 runs against Delhi Capitals in Vishakhapatnam on Sunday. Big-name players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen couldn’t score many runs and got out quickly.
Verma, who is only 23 years old, came in early at 25 runs for 3 wickets and stayed strong when Head got out at 37 runs. Despite losing four wickets quickly during the powerplay, Verma hit the ball confidently, smashing five fours and six sixes. He even scored 17 runs in a single over against Axar Patel, who is the vice-captain of India.

Aniket Verma caught the eye of IPL scouts last year with his outstanding performance in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League in 2024. He scored 273 runs in six matches, with a dazzling 100 runs off just 32 balls, including a total of 25 sixes.
Born in Jhansi, Aniket lost his mother when he was just three and was brought up by his uncle. Even with these challenges, he stayed focused on his cricket. He practiced hard at the Railway Youth Cricket Club before moving to the Faith Cricket Club, where he gained more attention in local matches.
Scouts from Sunrisers Hyderabad were impressed by his powerful hitting skills and bought him for Rs 30 Lakh in the auction. Aniket has proven he’s worth the investment with a fantastic innings against Lucknow Super Giants and now with his incredible performance against Delhi Capitals.
