India is sending over 15 tonnes of help to Myanmar after the country was hit by strong earthquakes. An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane, a C-130J, will deliver supplies from Hindon Air Force Station.
The relief supplies include tents for shelter, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, hygiene kits, solar lamps, generator sets, and important medicines like paracetamol, antibiotics, syringes, gloves, and bandages.
Recently, Myanmar experienced several earthquakes, including a major one that measured 7.2 on the Richter Scale. This quake caused damage and scared many people in Myanmar and even in Thailand. Another earthquake, measuring 4.2, shook Myanmar late at night. The National Center for Seismology reported this earthquake and said it happened at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, which means more aftershocks might follow.
On social media, people shared videos of pools overflowing because of the earthquake’s force. The 7.2-magnitude quake struck at 11:50 am local time, followed by a strong aftershock of 6.4 just minutes later. Reports stated that a 30-story building under construction in Thailand collapsed, trapping 43 workers inside.
In Myanmar, a bridge over the Irrawaddy River also fell into the water amid dust and debris. People are scared and need help, and India is stepping in to assist.
