An Army officer has been accused of raping a female police constable in Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place in 2012, and the officer, Varun Pratap Singh, is currently 48 years old and stationed in Uttarakhand.
The 42-year-old victim filed a complaint on Thursday, explaining that Singh misled her by promising to marry her. She said they first met when he claimed to be single and working at an Army canteen. On December 25, 2012, he invited her to his place, where they had a physical relationship based on his promise to marry her.
However, in 2013, the woman found out that Singh was already married. When she asked him about it, he said he was planning to divorce his wife. After that, he made excuses to delay their marriage and came up with stories about his family being sick.
In 2025, the victim discovered that Singh was also involved with other women. When she confronted him, he argued and said he wouldn’t marry her. He even threatened her, saying that if she went to the police, he would hurt her. The police have now charged him with rape and intimidation. The local authorities are ready to question him, and if he doesn’t cooperate, they will have to arrest him.
