The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played very well on Wednesday night and beat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 8 wickets in Guwahati. KKR managed to limit RR’s score to 151 runs for 9 wickets. Then, KKR quickly chased down the target, finishing with 15 balls to spare. Quinton de Kock was amazing, scoring an unbeaten 97 runs.
RR’s star bowler, Jofra Archer, had a tough match again. He gave away 33 runs in just 2.3 overs. This follows a terrible first game where he gave away 76 runs in 4 overs, setting a record for the most runs conceded in IPL history.
Brad Hogg, a former Australian spinner, pointed out something important after the game. He shared a moment where RR player Shimron Hetmyer was seen laughing and hugging de Kock right after losing. Hogg felt that it was not right for a teammate to be friendly with the opposition so soon after a tough match for Archer.
Hogg expressed his concerns, saying, “You need to show support for your teammates, especially when they have just struggled. It’s okay to celebrate later, but right after the match isn’t the time for that.”
The Rajasthan Royals are still searching for their first win in this season of the IPL, having lost both of their matches. Their captain, Sanju Samson, is not playing on the field yet, but he did bat in both games. Riyan Parag is leading the team in Samson’s absence. The Royals will next play against the Chennai Super Kings on March 30.
