On Sunday, Ishan Kishan made a big statement with an amazing performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He scored 106 runs without getting out in a match against Rajasthan Royals in their first game of the season. Kishan hit the ball beautifully, managing to score his runs off just 47 balls, with a fantastic strike rate of 225.53. His innings included 11 fours and six sixes, making his hundred the 12th fastest in IPL history, reached in just 45 balls. It’s also the third-fastest century for SRH.
Before this, Kishan’s performance was not great. In IPL 2025, he only scored 320 runs in 14 matches, a season he’d love to forget. Rights before that, he lost his spot on the central contract list and wasn’t focused on the Ranji Trophy.
Kishan said, “I had a lot of time, I practiced a lot, and worked hard on my batting.” Unlike most players from his team, who practice at their franchise’s ground, Kishan opened his own cricket academy in Patna using his own money. Training in his own facility really helped him focus.
According to a source, Kishan trained very hard: in the mornings, he practiced cricket skills for 2–3 hours. In the evenings, he would either work out at the gym or do speed training for 1–2 hours. He also improved his mental game by watching videos of himself play. He decided to train at his academy only, so he could stay focused and continue to work hard in a comfortable environment.
In the match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) chased 287 runs but only managed 242 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Ishan batted at No. 3 and also fielded while Heinrich Klaasen was the wicketkeeper.
Kishan’s last game for India was on November 28, 2023, in a T20I against Australia. His last ODI and Test games were on October 11, 2023, and July 20, 2023, respectively. What’s impressive is that in December 2022, he scored 210 runs in one ODI match against Bangladesh, making him the youngest to get an ODI double hundred and the first to turn his first ODI century into a double. He also holds the record for the fastest ODI double hundred in cricket history.
