A revenue official in Rajasthan was fired for being part of a paper leak scam. The Rajasthan government set up a special team in December 2023 to look into these cases. On Friday, Dausa Collector Devendra Kumar dismissed Harshvardhan Meena after he was found guilty of the charges against him, according to V K Singh, an officer with the police.
Meena hadn’t reported to work since January 2, 2024, and was arrested by a special police unit on February 18 while he was near the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh. He gained a lot of assets that he hadn’t declared in his official reports. These were key reasons for his dismissal.
Meena had been working as a patwari (a land record officer) before getting arrested in a recruitment exam paper leak case. His wife, Sarita, also worked as a patwari but was fired in December last year for cheating in the police recruitment exam by using a fake candidate. When the scandal came out, she went into hiding and was officially let go from her job on December 24, 2024.
Since the special investigation team was set up by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a total of 86 public servants have been fired. This includes 45 trainee sub-inspectors who were chosen in the 2021 police recruitment exam.
