The Mumbai Indians cricket team practiced hard before their big game against the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 on Friday. Even though their captain, Hardik Pandya, can’t play because of a penalty for a slow over-rate, he joined the practice to stay fit. Rohit Sharma, the former captain, also participated and later interacted with young fans who came to watch.
One young fan asked Hardik about his exciting experience of winning the Champions Trophy. They had a sweet conversation, and she told him she watched the entire game.
Rohit was a big hit among the crowd, and he happily signed autographs. At one point, he even signed a Chennai Super Kings jersey for a kid, which made everyone around cheer.
Last season, the Mumbai Indians had a tough time, finishing last with only four wins out of 14 matches. There was controversy when Hardik took over the captaincy from Rohit, and some fans were unhappy about it. Despite that, Hardik made a strong comeback in international cricket, helping India win the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy in just nine months. Now, as he returns to the Mumbai team, he wants to prove himself and win the fans’ support.
Since Hardik won’t be playing, Suryakumar Yadav, who also leads the Indian T20I team, will captain the Mumbai Indians against CSK. Additionally, they will miss Jasprit Bumrah, who is still recovering from a back injury from earlier this year.
