The Rajasthan Royals have chosen Riyan Parag to be the captain for their first three matches of IPL 2025. This decision was made because Sanju Samson is still working on getting fit enough to catch. Although Sanju can bat, he is not yet ready to be a wicketkeeper.
The Royals shared this news on their official social media and posted a video of Sanju telling the team that Riyan would be the captain for these games. Sanju will still play, but only as a batter in these matches.
This will be the first time Riyan Parag leads the Royals since he joined the team in 2019. The batter, who is from Assam, faced a lot of criticism in his first few seasons because he didn’t perform well. However, he made a great comeback last year, scoring 573 runs in 16 matches with an impressive strike rate of nearly 150.
