The tennis world is buzzing with controversy after Novak Djokovic’s group, the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), filed a lawsuit against major tennis organizations, including the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA. The PTPA claims these groups act like a “cartel” and are unfairly managing the sport, hurting players’ chances to succeed.

Carlos Alcaraz, a rising star in tennis, has publicly criticized the PTPA, saying, “I am not supporting that.”

Billionaire Bill Ackman backs the PTPA and has shown support for Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race. Ackman believes that this lawsuit could change the game of tennis for the better, allowing more talented players, no matter their money background, to succeed. He called the current situation “abusive” and full of unfair practices that have hurt the sport for too long.

Currently, Trump is trying to help resolve disputes between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, and some suggest he could also mediate the situation between the PTPA and tennis authorities.

Ahmad Nassar, the PTPA Executive Director, said, “Tennis is broken.” He believes players are in a bad system that keeps them from making fair earnings and threatens their health. He explained that they have tried to fix things through talking, but that hasn’t worked, so they had to go to court.

The ATP and WTA have denied all the accusations made by the PTPA. Alcaraz, who is named in the lawsuit, was also asked about it in a press conference, where he clearly stated he disagrees with the lawsuit.
