In Latur, activist Trupti Desai has made a shocking claim. She says Krishna Andhale, who is wanted for the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, is hiding among transgender people close to the Karnataka border. Desai met with Deshmukh’s family and shared her information. “People have been saying Andhale is in Nashik, but I found out he is disguising himself as someone else to blend in,” she said.

Desai also accused several police officers of being influenced by Walmik Karad, the main suspect in Deshmukh’s murder and a close friend of former minister Dhananjay Munde. She claims these officers are involved in wrongdoings, including taking money illegally. “I gave a list of 26 police officers who are acting unethically. I shared all my evidence with the Beed police chief,” she added.

Desai wants the authorities to transfer police who have been in Beed for more than ten years and to take action against those who have changed important reports related to the case. Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village, was kidnapped and killed on December 9 last year. So far, seven people have been arrested, but Andhale is still on the run.

Regarding the recent violence in Nagpur, Desai called it shocking and urged the government to handle the Aurangzeb tomb issue carefully. She believes that leaders should avoid making inflammatory statements as we approach important festivals like Eid and Gudi Padwa. “If this issue comes up in the assembly during a budget session, it seems like a way to distract from the murder of Deshmukh and the problems that women face,” she warned.
