Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the AIMIM party and a Member of Parliament, criticized the Maharashtra government for their failure to prevent recent violence in Nagpur. He claimed that some government ministers made statements that stirred up anger and led to the clashes. Owaisi pointed out that the government has a duty to follow the law and that their actions contributed to the problems.

He mentioned that violence started on Monday night, following reports that Quran verses were burned. Both Muslim and Hindu residents reported this to the police, but no action was taken. Soon after, violence broke out.

Violence occurred when members of the Bajrang Dal protested nearby, demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. The protests led to clashes in parts of Nagpur, prompting police to impose a curfew in several neighborhoods, prohibiting people from going out.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the violence as a “well-planned attack,” blaming the spread of rumors about the burning of religious items. He emphasized that no one has the right to disrupt the peace.
