In a recent podcast with MIT researcher Lex Fridman on The Lex Fridman Show, Prime Minister Modi talked about his hopes for peace with Pakistan. He shared his personal and political journey in trying to improve relations between the two countries, despite facing many challenges.

During the conversation, Modi recalled an important moment when he invited Pakistan’s leadership to his swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister. This gesture was meant to be a fresh start for India and Pakistan, bringing a message of peace and cooperation.

Unfortunately, Modi expressed his disappointment. He said, “I invited Pakistan for my swearing-in to turn over a new leaf, but each attempt at peace was met with hostility and betrayal.” He felt that his honest efforts for goodwill were not received well, as each step he took towards peace was met with negative responses from Pakistan.
