At the IIFA Awards 2025, the excitement was high for the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Female) category. Big stars like Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif were in the running, but 17-year-old Nitanshi Goel surprised everyone by winning the award. She made her acting debut in the film “Laapataa Ladies,” directed by Kiran Rao, and her performance as Phool Kumari wowed the audience.
When Nitanshi accepted the award from presenters Boman Irani and Bobby Deol, she looked stunning in a beautiful ruby-red gown. But it was her emotional speech that really touched everyone. Overcome with happiness, she thanked her family and the film team, almost crying with joy.
In her speech, Nitanshi said, “I wasn’t expecting this,” and expressed her admiration for the other nominees, saying, “I’m a huge fan of all of them.” She shared that winning the award felt like a dream come true: “It’s a big moment for every actor, and now it’s my turn. I’m so thankful.”
Nitanshi also described how she felt during her big moment: “I cried and hugged my mom really tight. I couldn’t believe it was happening!”
Looking ahead, she is excited to work with more stars. “I would love to work with Shah Rukh Khan and Kartik Aaryan,” she said.
“Laapataa Ladies,” released as “Lost Ladies” in other countries, is a comedy-drama about two newlywed brides who end up being switched during a train ride to their homes. The film also features Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan and received praise for its fun story and performances.
