Legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Gene was 95 years old, and Betsy was 63. They were also with their beloved dog.
A close friend, Doug Lanham, shared that Betsy had put Gene on a strict diet to keep him healthy. When they were together, Gene could only have cheat meals while golfing. Despite being a Hollywood star, he followed her rules closely.
Hackman once owned a bar and bistro called Jinja Bar & Bistro, which he co-owned with Lanham. However, he sold his part about seven years ago but still enjoyed visiting and eating there. Instead of ordering heavy meals like steak, he would choose lighter dishes like halibut or salmon.
When he came to the bistro, he often treated other customers to their meals. Hackman also took care of all the artwork at the restaurant. Lanham remembered funny moments with the actor, like when he would joke around and tell Lanham to “reach for the stars
