Hamas recently announced that it will not release Israeli hostages because it claims Israel violated their ceasefire deal. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that if Hamas does not let the hostages go by Saturday, he will end the entire agreement. Netanyahu also stated that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are set up around Gaza and will start heavy military action to defeat Hamas if the ceasefire fails.
On social media, Netanyahu’s office shared his message: “Since Hamas decided to break the agreement and not release our hostages, I ordered the IDF to gather forces near Gaza, and this is happening now.” He added, “If Hamas does not release our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and we will fight to finally defeat Hamas.”
In a statement, US President Donald Trump said that Israel should stop the ceasefire and start military action again if all hostages are not released by the end of the week. He mentioned, “If all of the hostages aren’t returned by Saturday at 12 o’clock, I think it’s time to cancel it and let hell break loose.”
Trump’s comments came after Hamas said they would delay the next release of Israeli hostages planned for Saturday, claiming Israel violated the ceasefire. A spokesperson for Hamas’s military wing, Abu Obeida, said that the handover of hostages “scheduled for next Saturday will be postponed.” He insisted they will stick to the deal as long as Israel does too. Later, Hamas mentioned that there might still be a chance to release the hostages on time but warned Israel to take the agreement seriously.
