A new audio recording has been released that reportedly captures the last moments of OceanGate’s Titan submersible before it sadly imploded in the Atlantic Ocean in 2023. This recording gives us a closer look at what happened during the dive to explore the Titanic wreck.

On February 7, the U.S. Coast Guard shared a 20-second clip as part of their investigation. The audio includes a strange whooshing sound, which experts believe might be the sound of the Titan’s implosion, happening on June 18, 2023. The sound was picked up from about 900 miles away by a device used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Earlier, during the search for the missing submersible, the Coast Guard reported that a Canadian aircraft had heard some underwater noises in the area. This raised hopes that the passengers might still be alive, trapped below the ocean. But the Coast Guard later confirmed that these sounds were not linked to the Titan, which had already imploded during its dive.

After four days of searching, OceanGate sadly announced that the five people aboard the submersible “have been lost.” OceanGate expressed their sadness, stating, “These men were true explorers with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for the oceans.” They offered their condolences to the families of the victims.

The five people who tragically lost their lives were Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, father and son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood, and Stockton Rush, the pilot who co-founded OceanGate.
