Mohan Singh Bisht, a newly elected leader from the BJP in Delhi’s Mustafabad area, has suggested changing the name of his constituency to “Shiv Vihar” or “Shiv Puri.” Mustafabad has a large number of Muslim residents, and Bisht argued that since he believes more Hindus live there, it’s fair to change the name. He claimed about 58% of the people are Hindus, while 42% are from other communities.
In an interview, Bisht was mentioned as a possible candidate for the chief minister position in Delhi. He emphasized his long history in the BJP, saying he has won six out of seven elections he has contested. This time, he won against AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan by a margin of 17,578 votes.
When asked about Bisht’s name change idea, AAP’s MLA Amanatullah Khan questioned what good it would do. He suggested that instead of focusing on renaming areas, the BJP should concentrate on positive actions for the people.
Recently, the BJP gained power in Delhi, winning 48 out of 70 seats in the assembly elections, while the AAP secured 22 seats and the Congress did not win any.
