New Delhi: The BJP has won big in Delhi, taking back control after more than 26 years. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a tough defeat, while smaller parties like the BSP, CPI, and AIMIM struggled to gain any traction, getting less than 1% of the votes each. According to the Election Commission, the AIMIM received 0.78% of the vote, the BSP 0.58%, the CPI just 0.2%, and the Janata Dal (United) got 0.86%. Additionally, 0.56% of voters chose “None of the above” (NOTA). The AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, only competed in two areas—Okhla and Mustafabad—but its candidates ended up as second runners-up, taking votes away from both the BJP and AAP. Shockingly, Congress was pushed down to fourth place. On the other hand, the BSP didn’t make much of an impact at all, even after contesting all 70 Assembly seats in Delhi. The BJP is ready to form the government again, winning 47 out of the 70 seats, and is leading in four more. The AAP, however, managed to secure 21 seats.
