Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated excitedly outside their office in Delhi as early election results showed they might win back power for the first time in over 26 years. People danced, played drums, and waved flags, creating a cheerful atmosphere. They held up cutouts of their party symbol, the lotus, and smeared each other with bright orange powder.

According to the latest trends, the BJP was leading in 41 out of 70 assembly seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was leading in 29. BJP’s Delhi president, Virendra Sachdeva, expressed confidence that they would form the new government. He mentioned that the central party leaders would choose the next chief minister.

After praying at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place, Sachdeva said the results were what they expected, but they would wait for the final numbers. Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate in the Kalkaji area, also shared his enthusiasm, saying he believed people would give a strong vote to the BJP. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi will grow and develop, and he expected AAP to be defeated.
