On Thursday, India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, responded strongly to Congress MP Naseer Hussain, who claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned for someone in the United States. Jaishankar stated, “The Prime Minister did not campaign for anyone. This is not the first time your party has spread lies. I urge you to take that back.”

Hussain also mentioned that Modi’s friend attacked Indians soon after he became president. This led to some Congress members complaining that Jaishankar was using inappropriate language. The Deputy Chairman, Harivansh, explained that Hussain’s comment wouldn’t be noted in the records since it wasn’t connected to his original question about Indian students abroad during conflicts. He pointed out that any accusations against officials need permission from the chairman.

Regarding students studying in different countries, Jaishankar assured that the government closely watches their situation. He mentioned that if there’s any threat or danger, like there was in Ukraine, the government alerts the students. He assured that they have plans ready to help, including organizing flights if students need to return home safely.
