A Los Angeles court has found David Pearce, a Hollywood producer, guilty of killing two young women, Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales Arzola, 26. The New York Post reported that Pearce was convicted on all charges, which also included raping seven other women who came forward after the case received attention.

In 2021, Christy and Hilda were at a party when Pearce, pretending to be important in Hollywood, took them to his apartment. There, he gave them cocaine mixed with fentanyl, a dangerous drug. After they passed out, he did not try to help them.

A lawyer named Catherine Ann Mariano explained to the jury that Pearce took the women back to his place after meeting them at a party. A friend of Pearce’s, named Michael Ansbach, also came but ended up passing out from using cocaine. When he woke up, he asked Pearce to call for help, but Pearce allegedly said, “Dead girls don’t talk.”

After Ansbach left, Pearce and his roommate, Brandt Osborn, put the women’s bodies in a car and dumped them on the side of the road. Seven other women later told their stories, saying Pearce had raped them by pretending to offer them roles in movies and then drugging them. The prosecution accused Pearce of being a “calculating serial rapist.”

Now, Pearce faces a long prison sentence, possibly 128 years to life, without a chance of getting out early. Brandt Osborn is also facing charges as an accessory in the crime.
