Argentina has decided to leave the World Health Organization (WHO). This news came from a spokesperson for President Javier Milei on Wednesday. Milei is a libertarian leader who supports Donald Trump, the former President of the United States. Trump had also decided to exit the WHO on his first day in office on January 20.

The main reason for Argentina’s exit is that Milei disagrees with how the WHO has handled health problems, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, mentioned that Argentina had to follow strict lockdown rules during the pandemic under the previous government, which was run by a leftist party.

Adorni also said that the WHO is too influenced by the politics of other countries and lacks true independence. Trump had similar complaints, saying the organization didn’t manage the COVID-19 pandemic or other health emergencies well. He also felt that the United States was unfairly paying more money than it should to help fund the WHO, as it is the agency’s largest money source.
