On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Jammu and Kashmir government and security forces to strengthen their efforts against terrorism and aim for “zero infiltration” from across the border. He believes that this infiltration is being aided by drug networks.

During two important meetings he held in Delhi, Shah reviewed the current situation regarding security operations, terrorist attacks, and border infiltrations. Notable attendees included the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, and various top officials from the home ministry and police.

Shah emphasized that all security agencies should work harder and be more serious about stopping terrorist activities and infiltration. He said the goal should be to completely remove the threat of terrorism.

He added that drug trafficking supports these infiltrators and terrorists, so immediate action is needed to stop funding for terrorism that comes from drugs. Shah reminded everyone that the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is strongly against terrorism and is dedicated to eliminating it from Jammu and Kashmir.

He pointed out that, thanks to ongoing efforts, the number of terrorist-related incidents in J&K has decreased by about 70% in the last five to six years.

The meetings followed a recent terror attack in Kulgam, where an ex-soldier was killed, and his wife and niece were injured, highlighting the ongoing risks in the region.
