Director and actor Akashdeep Sabir, along with his wife Sheeba, talked about the recent stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan. In an interview with Lehren Retro, Akashdeep made a sharp comment, saying, “With a price tag of ₹21 crore, Kareena (his wife) couldn’t even afford to hire a guard for their home.” Some people on Reddit even believe that the injury marks on Saif’s neck show it wasn’t a publicity stunt.
Talking About Pay Differences in the Film Industry
During the discussion, Akashdeep and Sheeba brought up the issue of how much male and female actors get paid. Sheeba pointed out that when a movie fails, male actors feel the impact more than female actors, which is why they earn more. Akashdeep mentioned that pay equality really started when actress Kareena Kapoor asked for more money for her roles.
Akashdeep took a jab at Kareena when discussing the stabbing, saying that even with her high earnings, she did not have a security guard outside her home. He joked that when actors begin to earn ₹100 crore, only then might they be able to afford proper security.
Questioning Their Safety Measures
He also questioned why Saif and Kareena didn’t have a security guard outside their house, especially since they live in a secure building with lots of cameras. He argued that just having cameras does not prevent crime; they only help to catch criminals after they happen. Akashdeep suggested that they should also have a full-time driver at night for safety.
Despite his critique, Akashdeep acknowledged that Saif and Kareena have faced a lot and said we should give them space to recover.
