A thick fog covered Delhi and nearby areas early on Monday morning, making it hard to see—visibility dropped to just 50 meters in Safdarjung and Palam. This was down from 500 meters at 3:30 AM. However, visibility began to improve after 6 AM. Thankfully, there were no flight cancellations, though some flights were delayed at the Delhi airport.
The temperature also dropped to 10.2°C, which is two degrees warmer than normal, compared to 11.8°C the day before. The weather department said it would be mostly cloudy on Monday, with daytime temperatures expected to be between 21°C and 23°C. On Sunday, the temperature reached 22.8°C.
While Delhi’s air quality did show a slight improvement, it was still rated as “very poor.” The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 306 at 9 AM, down from 326 at 4 PM on Sunday. The AQI might get better after the rain expected on Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
